Marvin was born and raised in Nevada, Missouri. After high school, he went on to attend Southwest Missouri State University located in Springfield, where he became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and later graduated in 1969 with a bachelors in business. At that time there was only one, Ronnie’s Remodeling. Seeing the need to fill the enormous void, a short 4 years later in 1973, he founded Oak Grove Construction, Inc. For over 30 years, Marvin enjoyed a successful career as a general contractor. However, in 2005 he decided to sell his company so he could concentrate on his real estate investments and spend more time with family and friends. Three of Oak Grove Construction’s employees, David Knetzer, Marvin’s nephew Matt Vaughn, and Bob Clifton purchased the assets and rebranded the company as Oak Grove Construction Services, Inc. A few years later, Bob Clifton reached retirement age and was bought out by David Knetzer and Matt Vaughn.
